Winter Evenings at The Smokehouse | Ouray, Colorado
Winter in Ouray has a way of slowing things down. Cold air along the river, snow underfoot, and the quiet rhythm of people moving through the landscape before gathering back inside. The evening begins outdoors, snowshoes on, breath visible, then gradually gives way to warmth, light, and conversation.
I photographed this experience as it unfolded, from the walk along the river to boots by the door, fondue warming at the table, and cocktails poured by hand. These moments are less about the meal itself and more about what happens around it, connection, craft, and the comfort that comes from sharing time together in winter.
This gallery documents a seasonal ritual at The Smokehouse, where cold nights end slowly, and the best parts of winter happen indoors.
