Helping people understand a place—and want to experience it.

Brand strategy, websites, photography and editorial communications for destinations, resorts and hospitality businesses.

A destination’s appeal lives in the details: the landscape, the welcome, the food and the experiences people carry home. I bring those details into a clear marketing direction, then produce the websites, stories and visual material that help people discover what makes the place worth visiting.

Ouray Riverside Resort

For a resort with lodging, RV sites, dining and outdoor adventures, the website needs to make the full experience understandable. My work connects those offerings through website strategy, creative direction and design, supported by photography, editorial content and ongoing marketing.

The result is a coordinated presentation of a place where a stay can include a cabin, a meal at the Smokehouse and an adventure in the San Juan Mountains. Each offering has its own story while contributing to the resort’s broader identity.

Visit Ouray

As Creative Marketing Director for the City of Ouray, I brought website development, visitor publishing, photography, video and destination communications into a coordinated body of work. The assignment required both creative production and collaboration with local businesses, regional partners and the people responsible for the visitor experience.

The work included the Visit Ouray website, digital visitor guides, social communications and the Visit Ouray Media House. Projects also connected the destination with the Ouray Ice Park, film and broadcast opportunities, and regional tourism partnerships.

Website visits

Historical results documented in the June 2021 destination marketing report. Facebook totals reflect the reporting period shown in that report; website visits cover January 1–June 2, 2021. Impressions and engagements are activity totals, not unique visitors or bookings.

Visitor publishing with a practical purpose

The Winter and Summer 2021 digital guides gave visitors an organized way to explore the destination. Across those two editions, the report documented 5,728 guide views from January 29–May 31, 2021. The publications brought local experiences into an accessible format that could support planning before arrival and discovery during a stay.

From direction to the work people see.

Positioning & digital presence

Clarify the destination or property’s identity, organize its offerings and build a website that helps guests understand the experience. Carry that direction through landing pages, seasonal campaigns and the information people need to plan a visit.

Photography & editorial

Create photographs, visitor guides, feature stories and video that give a place substance. Develop material that can serve the website, publications, social channels and partner communications.

Ongoing marketing direction

Bring continuity to content planning, email, social communications and campaign execution. Work alongside owners and teams so the marketing reflects what the business can deliver and what guests value.

Destination collaboration

Connect individual businesses and experiences to the larger destination story. Coordinate with local and regional partners while keeping the work grounded in the character of the place.
